Mathews School Board to hold retreat today

The Mathews County School Board will hold its annual retreat today, Thursday, Jan. 18, at Mathews Memorial Library.
The daylong retreat begins at 9 a.m. with superintendent Dr. David S. Daniel going over a number of matters, including selecting a date for an upcoming community town hall meeting, SOQ audit compliance and preparations for a visit by the Virginia School Boards Association president in February.
At 11, VSBA deputy executive director Samantha Bosserman will lead discussion on board governance, board members’ roles and responsibilities and related topics. After lunch, the board will review its norms and protocols, adjourning around 3 p.m.
