The Mathews County School Board will discuss finding a successor to Superintendent of Schools Nancy Welch in a special meeting beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the school board office.
The meeting will consider an official vacancy announcement, search timeline, interview process and potential questions for the applicants. Welch announced last month that she will be stepping down from the job on Sept. 1.
The community will have a chance to tell the school board what attributes they’d like the next superintendent to have, in a survey that will be open until Feb. 17. The survey is at https://forms.gle/4XSiADKy3XZ79UQU8; the link can also be found at the top of the division’s website, www.mathews.k12.va.us.
The special meeting precedes a joint budget work session with county supervisors. That work session will be held at 6 p.m. in the Mathews High School media center.
