Mathews residents reminded of important tax dates

Mathews County Commissioner of the Revenue Les Hall is reminding residents about important due dates for businesses and property owners in the upcoming year.
Feb. 1 is the deadline for marinas and campgrounds to report boats and campers, said a press release from the commission, while March 1 is the deadline for renewal of business licenses, followed by the business license payment deadline on April 1.
On April 15, applications are due for Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled.
May 1 is the deadline for business personal property returns and for state tax returns, as well as the deadline for anyone reporting high mileage based on January’s odometer reading.
The first half of the 2024 real estate taxes are due on June 5, with the other half due on Dec. 5. Personal property taxes are due on Dec. 5, as well.
Tax returns and payments for meals and transient taxes are due on the 20th of each month.
