Mathews native opens parental consulting firm in Richmond

Tarsha Ashford of Richmond, the daughter of Brenda and James Peterson of Mathews, has opened Seeds of Hope Consulting in Richmond. A teacher for 20 years with Henrico County Public Schools in early childhood special education, Ashford is co-owner with a fellow specialist, Danielle McManus of Richmond.
Their company offers parental consulting to parents of young children with special needs, and provides training for early childhood professionals on disability and inclusion, adaptation and modification, and behavior management, a release said.
The business provides parent consultations, in-person observations, hosts conferences to help religious organizations foster inclusion, develops mentorship programs for new early childhood special educators and offers a free webinar series for parents, the release said.
