Mathews NAACP to hold annual MLK Day program

The Mathews NAACP will hold its annual event in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 21, beginning at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3601 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek.
Danita Rountree Green will give the keynote address. Green is co-founder and executive director of Coming Together Virginia, a nonprofit committed to racial healing and reparative justice. Based in Richmond, Green facilitates the conversation on race and the legacy of the American Slave Trade.
She employs the power of storytelling to transform personal, cultural, and generational narratives. The author of three books, her work has been featured in publications including the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Green is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She also holds professional certifications from the Virginia Department of Health and Howard University.
