Mathews and Middlesex high schools were among the 178 member schools named to the Virginia High School League’s 2022-23 Fall Sportsmanship Honor Roll, the VHSL announced last week. Schools recognized had no player or coach ejections or programs placed on warning status.
“We are extremely proud of all the players, coaches, administrators and fans who worked very hard to make this happen,” said VHSL Executive Director Dr. John W. “Billy” Haun, Ed.D. “Each school and community should be proud to be on this honor roll. We feel it’s the VHSL’s highest honor. Sportsmanship reflects positively on the individuals, schools and communities.”
“VHSL activities are an extension of the classroom, and teaching sportsmanship is an essential part of the education process.
