The Virginia Department of Transportation announced Wednesday morning that it is prepared to start paving primary and secondary roads in Mathews this week.
The resurfacing includes Main Street in the Mathews Court House area, portions of Route 14 and Route 198, and Route 611, Tabernacle Road.
Work will be underway during daytime and overnight hours, depending on the location, VDOT said.
Milling and paving were set to begin Wednesday on Buckley Hall Road, Route 198, between Route 14 and just south of Critter Lane, causing one-way alternating traffic.
The remaining routes will be started when this portion is done, with work taking place in nighttime hours, VDOT said.Hours will be 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The contractor is Branscome Paving Company.
