March Madness is coming to Mathews for the remainder of March, sponsored with a touch of humor by the Mathews Main Street Committee.
The giving opportunity consists of making contributions to the Main Street Committee and getting a chance to win prizes in a drawing. Playfully titled Phantom Game Day because there is no game, no need to buy a ticket, no need to get up off the couch or change the channel, and no need to dress up or clean the house, the fundraiser simply involves making tax-free donations to the Mathews Main Street Committee to support its initiatives to enhance downtown Mathews, a release stated.
Each donor will receive a phantom honorary classification, depending on their level of giving. “Phantom Owner” status is conferred with a $1,000 donation. Other classifications are Manager—$500, Coach—$250, MVP—$125, Cheerleader—$75, and, any amount—Fan.
