The community has rallied behind the MLL Senior Girls’ team that will be representing Mathews in the state Little League tournament this weekend. Numerous fund-raisers have been held in the past couple weeks, including a dinner last Thursday at the Howard-Dooley Café. Here, restaurant owners Robby and Tracey Sorey pose with some of the girls in a tent set up outside the restaurant to sell raffle tickets and take donations. In addition to the fundraiser at Howard-Dooley, Richardson’s Café held an ice cream social for the team and the Auto Spa Car Wash held a car wash fundraiser, as well as collection jars placed in businesses throughout the county.
