Mathews Memorial Library has been selected by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra to host a series of “Meet the Families” presentations showcasing various families of instruments in concert.
The first concert will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, said a press release from library director Bette Dillehay. It will feature the Virginia Symphony Horn Section, with four French Horn players performing—Jacob Wilder, Helen Wargelin, Everett Burns, and Hirofumi Tanaka.
The program will include selections from classical music to movie music, said the release, providing an opportunity for guests to learn and appreciate the unique qualities of brass instruments.
The concert will be preceded by an informal sub supper, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Both events are free of charge and open to the public. Funding is provided by the Mathews Community Foundation.
