Mathews Memorial Library, along with Mathews County Historical Society, will host Community Scan Days on Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7, at the library on Main Street in Mathews.
This will be an opportunity for community members to have their family photographs, family Bibles, and documents digitized at no charge in an effort to preserve local history, said a press release.
The event will be held in the Chesapeake Room from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, said the release. Participants may receive a digital copy of their items.
Community Scan Days are vital to preserving access to the rich materials and stories of the Mathews community, as well as making these materials accessible to researchers through digitization, said the release.
