Mathews Memorial Library is taking a dive into “Oceans of Possibilities” by offering a summer youth program that explores the watery world in which we live. Beginning July 5, every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the month will be devoted to youth between the ages of 6 and 12.
Carol McCormack, head of youth services, is planning numerous activities associated with the adventures, according to a press release from Library Director Bette Dillehay. Participants will learn how they can be a part of protecting the oceans, bays and rivers that make up most of our planet’s surface.
Tuesdays will be for Lemonade Lectures, with Discovery Days on Fridays. Each Thursday will be an opportunity to make a creative statement. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon.
Wednesdays are reserved for preschoolers through kindergarten, who will hear sea tales and other watery adventures in the “Tales to be Told” program.
