On Friday, June 28, during a break in its Party at the Wharf series, Craig DeRemer, president of the Mathews Land Conservancy, called to the stage Lynda Smith Greve, Danette Machen, and Tim Hudgins to recognize the three valued MLC members.
“At this time we want to recognize these three friends for their significant contributions to the ongoing success of MLC’s mission to preserve and protect waterway access for public use, benefit, and education,” DeRemer announced to the crowd of more than 300.
Commemorative cherrywood plaques were presented to each awardee. Greve’s 25 years of service was recognized with gratitude as MLC’s Operations Manager. “Her devotion and tireless efforts have been instrumental in making MLC the success it enjoys today,” a release said.
Machen’s 18 years of “unwavering support and service to the organization” was noted. “Machen’s wide-ranging knowledge of the organization’s history, its critical issues, and her engagement with the community has been invaluable,...
