The Mathews Kiwanis Club will host its Charter Night program beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, at the Hyco House at 10941 Buckley Hall Road. The public is invited to attend.
The celebration is a special night for the club as it will be officially chartered as an extension of the Kiwanis family of service clubs. The public event will offer guests cook-out style food, a cash bar of beer and wine, and a chance to get to know folks from the club.
Mathews Kiwanis is a collection of local residents who have come together under the common goal of improving the well-being of Mathews County, primarily by improving the lives of its youth, a release stated. The club’s motto is “serving the children of Mathews County.” Mathews Kiwanis is creating school clubs that focus on leadership and service, and is already on track to build a K-Kids Club in Mathews Elementary School, a Builders Club in Thomas Hunter Middle School, and a Key Club in Mathews High School this fall.
