Mathews JV girls on win streak

 

Starting last Thursday night, the Mathews High School JV basketball team has gone on a three-game winning streak, including two wins over Conference 42 opponents.

 

In the first game of Conference play, the Devils won, 39-13, against Charles City. Staying on their toes and being overly aggressive on defense allowed Mathews to keep the opponent from getting good looks at the basket. Leading the team in points was Katherine Respess with 16 points, followed by Lexie Miles with seven. Casey Kelly and Micaela Sadler scored six and four points, respectively. Rileigh Betz, Yolanda Fells and Belle Massimino each had added points.

 

 

On the road Monday against West Point, the Lady Devils dominated for a 32-9 win. Keeping a solid full-court press throughout worked for this defensive-minded team.
