Mathews High School band has a great start to its competition season

The Mathews High School Marching Blue Devil Band has had a great start to its competition season this year.On Oct. 5, the band traveled to the Warhill Classic, where they placed second overall in Class A competition with Bayside and Green Run high schools. The MHS band also received awards for Best Color Guard and Best Drum Major, and placed second in the Visual and General Effect Captions.
On Oct. 12, the band traveled to Hampton to participate in the Warrior Classic in Class A against Deep Creek High School. They received awards for Best Percussion, Best Music, and Best General Effect, and placed 2nd in the division, only missing first place by 0.1 point.
This Saturday, the band will travel to Gloucester High School, where they will be performing at 4:15 p.m. in Class A competition.
