The Mathews High School golf team split a pair of matches during the past week, falling to Rappahannock last Thursday, 194-215, and beating West Point on Monday, 212-229. In the Rappahannock match, Ben Stroud (at left) and Chase Ambrose (photo at right) turned in identical low scores of 53, with Bryce West (54) and Christian West (55) also top scorers for MHS. In Monday’s win, Stroud and West each shot 50 to be low scorers. The other two counting scores were shot by Ambrose and Evan Brennan. Coach Wayne Lewis was scheduled to take his Blue Devils to the Indian Creek Golf Course yesterday to face off against Northumberland.
