Mathews Farmers’ Market will open on April 4, offering wares that vendors either “make, bake or grow,” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October. It will be located on the historic Court Green on Court Street.
Items sold typically range from meats and eggs to baked goods and honey. There are vegetables, fruits, flowers, and a variety of craftsman items for sale.
In existence for about 30 years, Mathews Farmers’ Market is the longest-running market in the area. It is also one of the few to be open every weekend. The market is sponsored by the Mathews Main Street Committee, a non-profit group working to maintain the atmosphere and charm of the Mathews Court House area and to promote and support the economy and businesses in the community.
