Mathews Farmers’ Market opens

The Mathews Farmers’ Market 2020 opened Saturday to great success, according to Mathews Main Street Committee chairman Bette Dillehay.
Despite early clouds and threat of rain, along with the required COVID-19 safeguards, nine masked vendors and likewise-adorned shoppers declared the opening a welcome addition to Saturday in the village.
Sales were brisk, said Dillehay, and promises to return next week were part of the scene.
Plans are for the market to be open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., said the release, with customer flow, mask-wearing, and maintaining social distance to continue.
Information about participating as a vendor is available at www.mathewsmainstreet.org or by calling 804-725-5747.
