Mathews experiences Covid case uptick

Mathews County experienced an uptick in COVID-19 cases during the past week.
After having zero cases in the county during the week of March 16-23 and low numbers in the subsequent weeks, Mathews recorded 20 new cases of the virus during the period April 13-20, bringing the total to 1,459 cases since the pandemic began. There were no additional hospitalizations or deaths, leaving those totals at 32 and 28, respectively.
Gloucester recorded just one case during the past week, for a total of 7,316, with one death, for a total of 103, and no new hospitalizations, leaving the total at 104.
Middlesex had five new cases, for a total of 1,830, one new hospitalization, for a total of 45, and no additional deaths, for a total of 46.
Across the Three Rivers Health District, there were 71 new cases, averaging around 10 per day, for a total of 27,484 over the past two years. There were six new hospitalizations, for a total of 690, and four additional deaths, for a total of 416.
