The Mathews Christmas Store was held this past Friday and Saturday, enabling families in need to provide Christmas for their loved ones. The annual event involves the efforts and contributions of numerous churches, businesses, organizations and individuals in the Mathews community who work in partnership with Mathews County Social Services. The store is largely funded by an endowment from the Owens Foundation for Social Services Program Fund of the Mathews Community Foundation. Among the volunteers who helped make this year’s store possible were, from left, Charlene Small, Jeanne Helms Roberts, Carol Swartz and Vicki Carter. Photo by Sherry Hamilton
