The Mathews County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, to consider an appeal of a decision by Planning and Zoning Administrator Thomas Jenkins regarding a violation notice and correction order issued to William Eley and Robin Hooper of Williams Wharf Road.
The order, which was issued on Feb. 18, concerns the operation of a commercial shellfish aquaculture business without the appropriate permit on property located at 905 and 929 Williams Wharf Road.
Commercial shellfish aquaculture of no more than 100,000 organisms annually is a permitted use in the waterfront residential district, according to the order, while shellfish aquaculture of more than 100,000 organisms requires a conditional use permit, and no such permit has been issued.
The owners were ordered to cease operating the commercial aquaculture business.
