The Mathews County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 13, in the historic courthouse on Court Street. The board will consider one appeal of a decision made by the planning and zoning administrator and two requests for variances from the zoning ordinance.
William Eley and Robin Hooper will appeal a Violation Notice and Correction Order issued on Feb. 18 concerning property located at 905 Williams Wharf Road. The property is the site of Williams Wharf Oyster Company. The applicant is asking for an interpretation of three sections: the uses permitted by right in the Residential-1 zoning district, the requirements for a conditional use permit, and home occupations, as well as an appeal of the decision made by the planning and zoning director.
