The Mathews Broadband Advisory Board is reaching out to local organizations and asking for an opportunity to meet with them and answer any questions they have about the board’s quest to bring universal broadband to Mathews County and its pursuit of grant funding for that purpose.
The board, according to the draft copy of a letter it plans on sending to various organizations, plans on focusing on affordability and broadband-related projects that “could translate into tangible impacts.” These goals are part of a Digital Opportunity grant the county has received from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.
The letter says that the board recognizes that community organizations understand the unique challenges and needs of their community, and that such voices are necessary “to ensure that our efforts are equitable and truly reflective of the community’s needs.”
