Members of the Mathews County School Board and Board of Supervisors will hold a joint budget work session at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the J. Murray Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
At 6 p.m., the school board will hold its monthly meeting. Both the work session and school board meeting had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, but were postponed following the closure of schools amid concerns over Mathews Elementary School’s water system.
A public hearing on the school division’s proposed 2025-2026 budget will be held at 5 p.m. next Thursday, Feb. 6, also in the THMS auditorium. Following the hearing, the school board will hold a work session on the budget.
The school board is expected to adopt its proposed budget at the Feb. 18 meeting, at which point it will be delivered to the county administrator for consideration by the county supervisors.
