The Mathews County Board of Supervisors is entering into discussions with the Mathews Family YMCA about building an indoor community pool at the facility.
During its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27, held a week late after snow resulted in the postponement of the Feb. 20 meeting, the board heard a request from county administrator Ramona Wilson for guidance on implementing a strategic plan that was developed on the county’s vision and goals after a Nov. 4 workshop with The Berkley Group. She recommended publishing the plan on the county’s website and beginning implementation at the beginning of the new fiscal year, which is July 1.
But board members expressed a desire to begin implementation of the plan immediately, with supervisor Janice Phillips saying that she had already scheduled a meeting with the YMCA, and supervisor Tom Bowen saying he didn’t want to delay discussions with the Y.
