The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting Tuesday to consider adoption of the county’s FY 2021-2022 budget.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School.
According to the Code of Virginia, approval of an annual budget for school purposes must be prepared by May 15 or “within 30 days of the receipt by the county or municipality of the estimates of state funds, whichever shall later occur.”
Mathews School Superintendent Nancy Welch said the school division is using the Direct Aid Payment Calculation Template dated Feb. 27, and that no major changes are expected.
The county board was unable to pass the annual budget at its April meeting, with the board deadlocked 2-2 on the matter and one member absent for the vote. The tax rates, which remained unchanged, were approved unanimously at the April 27 meeting.
