The Mathews County Board of Supervisors has called a special meeting for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.
The purpose of the meeting is to hold a closed session on two matters, both of which were also included on the agenda for the Dec. 19 regular meeting. A closed meeting was held that night, lasting approximately 1.5 hours, but no action was taken afterwards.
The first topic scheduled for the closed meeting is “discussion, consideration, or interviews of prospective candidates for employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific public officers, appointees, or employees of any public body,” per Virginia Code 2.2-3711 (A)(1).
The second topic is “regarding new information as it relates to specific cybersecurity threats or vulnerabilities, where discussion in an open meeting would jeopardize the security of any facility, building, structure, information technology system, or software program,” per Virginia Code 2.2-3705.2 (14)(b).
Supervisors’ chairman Dave Jones said the meeting is necessary to “clarify some issues and correct the record.”
