The Mathews County Little League Minor Softball All-Star Team competed in an eight-team invitational tournament in Luray, Virginia last week, rounding out its summer of outstanding tournament performance with an overall record of 13 wins and two losses.
Little League doesn’t have a World Series tournament for the 9- and 10-year-old minor age group, so the invitational was the team’s ultimate chance to shine.
In spite of the team’s record, which included two wins out of three games in the pool-style regional tournament against six other state champion teams and the host team, Luray, the Mathews girls were unable to advance.
