First responders tend to an accident that took place early Wednesday morning in Mathews County near the Gloucester County line. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
Shortly after 7 o’clock Wednesday morning, a 2022 Chevrolet box truck was traveling in the eastbound lane of Route 14 and attempted to make a left hand turn onto Windsor Road when the vehicle was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling in the westbound lane, according to Sgt. Jon Dudley of the Virginia State Police. The impact caused the box truck to overturn.
There were no injuries. The accident was cleared by around 9 that morning. The driver of the box truck, a Hampton man, was charged with failure to yield right-of-way. Trooper Mallory Yowell investigated the scene.
