Master Naturalist to give talk at Deltaville Museum

“Native Plants—Beauty, Birds and the Butterflies” is the topic of the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park’s Turner Lecture Series program on Sunday, March 17, beginning at 2 p.m.
Betsy Washington, a certified Virginia Master Naturalist and president of the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society, will give the talk in the facility’s heated Events Pavilion. There will be refreshments and a question-and-answer period following the lecture.
Washington earned graduate degrees in Botany and Landscape Design at George Washington University. After working in the landscape design field, she was asked to teach botany, plant field classes and plant ecology while emphasizing native plants, in the Landscape Design Program at GWU. Leaving the design field for teaching, she spent 16 years at GWU, ultimately becoming head of the Plant program.
