Mary Virginia Harwood, 86, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died on Monday, April 17, 2023.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1936 in Gloucester, and was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Virginia Ambrose; her husband, Thomas P. “Tommy” Harwood Jr., and her sister, Joan.

Survivors include her daughter, Sally Harwood; two sons, Thomas Harwood III and L. Hunter Harwood; a brother, Bernard “Billy” Ambrose; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the chapel at Elijah House Academy, 6627 Jahnke Road, Richmond, at 1:30 p.m. on July 8. It will be followed by her interment in Hollywood Cemetery and a reception at Willow Oaks.
