Mary Tyler Seawell Oliver, 96, of Hayes, entered Heaven’s gates on Jan. 12, 2015.

She was born Sept. 5, 1918 to the late John and Ella Seawell. Mrs. Oliver, a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She did many things for her family until her health declined. Mrs. Oliver had an unwavering faith in God. She was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church and one of the oldest members. She will be truly missed.

Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow Oliver; son, Garland Oliver; parents, sisters, and brothers.

She is survived by daughters, Shirley Hudgins and husband Dean, Nancy Milby and husband James, and Janice Darnell and husband Jimmy; sons, Daniel Oliver and wife Phyllis and Paul Oliver and wife Ann; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
