Mary Louise King, 84, of Hayes, died peacefully on July 16, 2012 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center surrounded by her most cherished earthly treasures, her beloved family.
She was a native of Gloucester and a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class.
Louise retired as cafeteria manager at Achilles Elementary School having served lunches to the children and teachers for 29 years. She was also a wonderful seamstress and cook. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling on bus trips and especially loved visiting the Amish country in Pennsylvania.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac W. King; parents, Joseph Earl and Carrie Haywood Coates, and brother, John Alfred Coates.
She leaves a legacy of love to those who survive her: son, Michael King and wife Debby; daughter, Annette L. Sigley; grandsons, Christopher Sigley, David King, Bryan King and Jason King; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Olivia Sigley, and brother, James Earl Coates.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart and the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Union Baptist Church, 9254 Guinea Road. Interment will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
