Mary “Judy” Ashberry, 83, of Foster, Va., passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2014.

She was a Registered Nurse for many years and she was the head of the Pediatric Department of Portsmouth General Hospital. Judy was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Oriental Lodge Chapter #30, the Red Hats, and the Central Village Homemakers of Mathews. She was a humanitarian and devoted her time to helping others by assisting with Meals on Wheels and by contributing to countless organizations.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Jerre G. Ashberry; her children, Ed and Becky Wright, Bill and Sue Wright, Cheryl and Allan MacDonald, Tim and Kim Wright, Randy and Holly Ashberry, and Jerilee and Scott Smith. She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va., on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. with interment in H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Va.
