Mary is predeceased by her grandson, Cory Jensen; siblings, Patricia, Beverly, Milton, and mother, Velma.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years Richard Childers Sr.; siblings, Dot Berry, Howard Spires, Don Spires and Chuck Ferris; son, Larry Gene Laughery Jr. and wife Julia; daughter, Dawn Laughery Jensen (Ray), daughter, Debbie Childers Ambrose (Jimmy); son, Richard Childers Jr. (Julie); grandchildren, Tiffany, Jason, Kyle, Linsey, Jamie, Amber and Josh, and four great-grandchildren, along with her precious pup Gabbi. 

Mary retired from Langley Air Force Base after 30 years, mostly in TAC and ACC contracting. She spent most of her life on the Peninsula and Middle Peninsula in Virginia before moving to St. Marys, Ga., in 2009. She was a member of Mathews Baptist Church in Virginia and First Baptist Church of Kingsland in Georgia.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 at First Baptist Church of Kingsland. There will also be a Celebration of Life to be held in Mathews, and the Hampton Roads area of Virginia at a later date.
