Mary graduated from Pound High School, and attended college at Radford University and the College of William and Mary. She was employed as a computer analyst for the federal government. She is best known for her enthusiasm for life, love of art, cooking and gardening. She created many watercolor paintings that exhibit her fine sense of color and attention to detail. She loved the finer things of life and spent many vacations overseas.

The family would like to especially thank the staff of the Gloucester House, Riverside Hospice, Dr. Haggerty, and also Quillie and Opal Countiss for all their loving and compassionate care during Mary’s stay.

Following a funeral service at Memorial Funeral Home, Hopewell, she was buried at Merchants Hope Memorial Cemetery, Prince George.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your local chapter of the American Red Cross or Gloucester House.

Special thanks to private duty CNA and best friend Opal Countiss, who cared for Mary 17 months.
