Martha Elise Goodroe, 101, of Union Bridge, Md., formerly of Cobbs Creek, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, Feb. 26, 2015.

She was born Martha Elise Gullatt in Columbus, Ga. She was a loving mother, wife and nanny to her family.  She was a faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.M. Goodroe; a son, Daniel Goodroe; a brother, Edward Gullatt; two sisters, Virginia Hendrix and Dorothy Ferris, and a daughter-in-law, Ann Goodroe.

She is survived by a son, Donald Goodroe; two daughters, Jean Spurgeon and June Goodroe, and a son-in-law, Patrick Spurgeon; nine grandchildren, Donnie Goodroe, Jeff Goodroe, Greg Goodroe, Shay Goodroe, Shaar Conwell, Sommer Goodroe, Stefanie Broadhurst, Stacey Spurgeon, Sheri Wright; 13 great-grandchildren, Ashley Goodroe, Clayton Goodroe, Greg Goodroe Jr., Jessica Goodroe, Jonathon Milligan, Matthew Broadhurst, Michael Broadhurst, Kenny Shifflett, Brianna Shifflett, Abigail (Abbie) Shifflett, Timothy (LT) Coleman, Savannah Jones, Brian (BJ) Conwell, and four great-great-grandchildren, Taylor Black, Anthony Milligan, Daniel Milligan, Parker Broadhurst.

The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek, Va., services followed at 11 o’clock.   

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Inc., of Mathews, Va., was in charge of the services.
