Douglas Marshall of Mathews and Karen Kovacs of Hayes were the overall winners in Saturday’s 8K race to benefit the Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation. Marshall finished in 29:37 and Kovacs in 35:58.
The event, which included a 3K walk, was held at Gloucester High School and drew 169 participants. It raised over $4,500 for the foundation, which will be used toward mini-grants for teachers and to support the Teacher of the Year program.
Finishing behind Marshall in the men’s division were George Fiscella of Newport News in 32:38 and Ramon Da Silva, also of Newport News, in 33:12. The other top overall women were Christy Lindbert of Gloucester in 37:41 and Carey Phillips of Williamsburg in 40:27.
