Marlene Joyce Scherer, 81, of Gloucester, died on Monday, May 20, 2024.

She was a member of Newington Baptist Church, serving in various roles, including greeter, Sunday school teacher, a member of the Stewardship Committee and the Disaster Relief Team, and was the Adult Ministry Visitation Coordinator.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tyree Watson and Dorothy; her husband, James William Scherer, and her two sisters, Brenda Wilson and Cheryl Lloyd.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy, Joy, and Annette, and three grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Newington Baptist Church by Pastor Mike Gray and Pastor Chris Grella. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be at Peninsula Memorial Park, conducted by Pastor Jim Evans.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newington Baptist Church in memory of Joyce Scherer.
