With Hurricane Dorian looming off the coast and threatening an impact to the area, this year’s 45th annual Mathews Market Days will be a one-day event, opening Saturday at 9 a.m.
Based on the current forecasted weather conditions, the Mathews Market Days Committee announced Wednesday morning that Friday’s events have been cancelled. Vendors for Market Days will be allowed to set up on Saturday beginning at 6 a.m. and must be completed their setup by 8:45 a.m. Road closures will take place as scheduled beginning at midnight Friday.
Should the weather patterns worsen for Saturday, the Mathews Market Days Committee will make determinations as needed and will notify the public of those changes by 5 p.m. Friday. Should a mandatory evacuation be called, Mathews Market Days will be cancelled for 2019.
