Even with an early cancellation of events this past fall due to inclement weather, the Mathews Market Days Committee was able to raise almost $5,000 from its 2023 festival, donating the proceeds to Mathews County’s first responders.
But the festival is now “in dire need of help” if it’s to continue, said a press release. Several committee members have resigned, and seven positions need to be filled. The festival needs a chairperson, vice chair, secretary, co-vendor coordinator, co-children’s area coordinator, car show coordinator, and logistics/volunteer coordinator.
“The livelihood of Mathews Market Days depends on our community in order to continue for another year,” said the release.
Committee members must be available to attend all monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of every month, said the release, and must be available to help for the duration of the event, from Thursday through Sunday after the Labor Day holiday.
