Mariners’ Lake at the Mariners’ Museum and Park in Newport News is now open to the public.
Every weekend, guests can experience the 167-acre lake in a kayak or jon boat, which are available to rent. Public access to the lake is the final stage of a multi-phased approach undertaken by the Mariners’ Park team to ensure its long-term sustainability for future generations.
“We are delighted to welcome the community back onto Mariners’ Lake,” The Mariners’ President and CEO Howard H. Hoege III said. “This project has truly been a labor of love as our team has been diligent and strategic in its work to establish a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. The investments we have made to the Lake over the years have been to ensure guests enjoy this urban oasis for generations to come while also fostering a sense of environmental responsibility,” said Hoege.
