Marie T. Nixon, 91, of Gloucester, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
She was a lifelong resident of Hampton, and a graduate of the Hampton High School class of 1941. Marie worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II, and then worked at Hampton High School for 23 years, retiring as a Main Office secretary. After she retired Marie assisted with the breakfast program at Hines Middle School until she was 83. She was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church and Riverdale Baptist Church.
Marie is survived by her children, James W. Nixon and Gail N. Mongold (Donald); grandchildren, Susan Mongold (Anthony), Anne Trueblood (Billy), and Tina Bryner (Trevor); five great-grandchildren; special niece, Joyce Geluz, and three cats, Nana, Boots, and Dakota.
She suffered from shingles for seven years and was passionate that anyone who was eligible get the vaccine
We could not have had a better mother.
A graveside service was conducted on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
