Marianne Ballard Boyer, age 80, of Gwynn’s Island, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 17, 1934. She grew up at Fort Hood, Texas, and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
While working at Killeen Base, she met and married William J. Boyer. After moving to Richmond, Va., when Bill was discharged from the U.S. Army, she worked for Westinghouse and A.B.B. She and Bill retired to Gwynn’s Island in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Boyer.
Marianne is survived by her daughter, Edith Kidd and husband Raymond; her son, W.J. Boyer Jr.; a sister, Ruby Lee Ballard of San Antonio; grandsons, William J. Boyer III of Bon Air, Va., and William J. Kidd and wife Ann of Aylett, Va.; a great-grandson, Kaleb M. and great-granddaughter, Ashley E.

The family received friends on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, from 7-9 p.m. in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jimmy K. Maroney were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in the Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.
