MARGUERITE ADELAIDE CASSIDY LINDSAY

Marguerite Adelaide Cassidy Lindsay of Cardinal, was called home, peacefully in her sleep, on Friday, June 16, 2023 after a long illness. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Julia Marie “Jolie” Harrison; son-in-law, Chris Ludwig; sisters, Anastasia Marie “Nancey” Cassidy Kaiser and Dr. Sheilah Cassidy Perrin; niece, Marie Perrin Risch, and family, as well as dear friend, Kristy Murphy.

Mimi, as she was known to everyone, was preceded into glory by her parents, Anastasia Marie and Lewis Eugene Cassidy; husband, Daniel Lindsay, and life partner of 25 years, Carl Murphy.

Mimi was born in Philadelphia, Penn., on April 16, 1946. She graduated from Gulf Park College in Gulf Park, Mississippi, and from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. After a brief struggle, Mimi maintained sobriety for 47 years, until her passing. Her family was the light of her life and she delighted in spending time with, and proudly sharing stories of, her beloved Jolie’s adventures, successes, and travels.

Although Mimi was primarily homebound for the last years of her life, her confinement never limited her effervescent, loving spirit and joy for life. Mimi exemplified cheerfulness in affliction. She was an avid gardener, skilled sailor, horse racing fan, loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her home and so appreciated the help and companionship of her dear neighbors, Carl and Casey Kelly. She was a light in the world to all that knew her and will be dearly missed.

A private service will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to Hands Across Mathews, handsacrossmathews.org.
