Manga-Anime workshop offered at Arts on Main

A workshop to introduce participants to the Manga-Anime style will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
Students will learn about the techniques used by manga and anime artists to help transform their ideas into manga-style drawings, popular in Japanese animation. Some drawing experience is helpful, but not necessary, said a press release. Those who have a sketch book and pencils should bring them; for those who don’t, supplies will be provided by Arts on Main.
The class is open to high school juniors and seniors, college students and adults. The cost is $35 per student.
The program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is being taught by Anh Do, Teen Studio instructor for the museum and an art faculty member at Virginia State University. Do has a BFA in kinetic imagery with a concentration in 3D modeling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
