The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that a traffic detour will be in place on Main Street for the duration of this weekend’s Daffodil Festival, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday and continuing through 7 p.m. Sunday.
During those hours, Main Street traffic will detour between Martin Street and Cary Avenue (see diagram). During Saturday’s parade, from approximately 9:55 and 11:30 a.m., all vehicle traffic on Main Street will be suspended as road closures will be in effect. During the parade, traffic will still be able to proceed onto John Clayton Memorial Highway towards Mathews County and off John Clayton Memorial Highway, if turning left towards Walmart.
The sheriff’s office will be on-site providing traffic control and event security throughout this weekend event. “Please expect delays and if you live within the Court House area, please plan accordingly,” said a GCSO announcement.
