Made in Mathews Tour a popular draw; continues this weekend

The first weekend of the Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour appeared to be a success, as shoppers flooded the sidewalk on Main Street, crowded into downtown stores, and provided a steady stream of visitors at local art studios.
There will be another chance to enjoy the free self-guided tour this weekend, with studios opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
During the tour this past Sunday, woodworking artist Arne Gustafson of Into Woods at Cobbs Creek had a visit from Fernando Melendez and Katy Breuer of Hartfield, who were taking the tour with her brother David Breuer of Denmark in spite of a steady rain that dampened attendance. A spokesman for Gustafson said the studio had been busy on Friday and Saturday.
Oil and acrylic artist Christine Corbin of Moon said that Saturday had been the busiest day of the three-day tour, and although the rain chased people away on Sunday, she expected they would be back for the tour next week. She spent Sunday staying busy in ...
