Mabel N. Buchanan, 85, of Gloucester, died Oct. 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by family.
Mabel enjoyed many hobbies including crafting, gardening, canning and baking, and was a talented quilter. She was always a room mother at her children’s school and was very family oriented. She was very involved in what her children were doing and very proud of their accomplishments. Mabel gave, loved, and lived with all her heart, and would want those who loved her to do the same.
She was preceded in death by parents, Malcom and Myrtice Phillips, and son, Hurley Burton Hughes III.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roger I. Buchanan; daughters, Cynthia B. Canfield, Molly B. McFerrin and Melodie B. Collins; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
